Sabah tourism and hospitality industry is expected to grow in leaps and bounds in the next couple of years. It is an area of focus and there continue to be streams of investments from private investors as well as the government. Employment and demand for qualified personal in both the tourism and hospitality arena will be abundant and prospects of career development will be fast and wide. It will be an important sector to the economy of Sabah and Malaysia. In order to cope with the growth and demand of the tourism and hospitality sector, this degree programme has been developed specially to cater to the domains of growth and to provide students with the knowledge, competency and know-how to be competitive and to be able to evolve with this very vibrant industry.

Apart from equipping students with the knowledge of management, marketing, services, economics, and communications, they are also given the choice to focus on their intended specialty in areas of:

  • i. MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition)
  • ii. Event Management
  • iii. Ecotourism
  • iv. Hotel management and
  • v. Catering

A holistic curriculum is installed for this programme where immersive training is greatly emphasised. Apart from training being enriched by the state of the art training facilities of UCSF, it will be complimented with professional guidance from industry practitioners and captains of the industries, and throughout this course, students will also gain insights on the development of the tourism and hospitality industry from both local and international visiting professors, so that their knowledge are contemporary and relevant.

  • – Pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum of Grade C (GP 2.00) in TWO (2) subjects; OR
  • – Pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) (Jayyid); OR
  • – Pass in Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with a minimum of Grade B in FIVE (5) subjects; OR
  • – Pass in a foundation programme from a recognized Malaysian institution with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
  • – Pass in a matriculation programme from a recognized Malaysian institution with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
  • – Pass in a diploma (MQF Level 4) from a recognized Malaysian institution with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
  • – Other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government.
