Featuring Botanic Batik
Perhaps it is the traditional lifestyle and pristine environment of Sabah that have resulted in Sabahan developing their unique inherent talents and NIAG, takes the initiative to be a venue for showcasing not only the creative artistic products of Sabahan, but actively engages the public and tourists to appreciate these. For what would be art, a message carrying deeper meanings of the artist, without the public completing its comprehension.
Unique Meaningful Beautiful Products
The art of batik is a traditional Asian art of dyeing fabric and creating beautifully rendered cloth. Among the cultural heritage being preserved and advanced through NIAG, and in line with UCSF’s Green Concept and Philosophy, we are promoting and revitalizing the use of natural organic dyes, in a sustainable way, especially to create botanic batik.
By undertaking this endeavour, we are rekindling the centuries-old applied art and traditional culture, to restore and make its presence felt more prominently in the 21stcentury. These natural dyes are sourced and created from Sabah’s green assets, to produce high quality batiks and batik products. This new creative way of producing batik will bring forth human talents who will usher an industry that is environmental friendly, thereby projecting our support and commitment to the the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SGD) of ensuring the welfare of the environment and its inhabitants.
