UCSF strives to create a homely environment especially for those students who are from afar.

Student & Learning Facilities

UCSF is located in the state capital and within the city center of Kota Kinabalu. Despite being a city campus, it is set within a land area of 4.97 acre. Hence it is a self-sustaining campus of considerable size and consists of a standalone, two-storey science lab and 4 inter-connected blocks consisting of :

  • Administration block.
  • Teaching & learning block.
  • Students’ recreation block.
  • Hostel block.
Teaching & Learning Spaces

UCSF 6 out of its 8 stories of an entire block are solely dedicated in design to cater to the various set up for effective teaching and active learning. This include standard classrooms, project syndication room, discussion rooms, corporate meeting rooms, drawing studio, drafting studio, general computer labs, language labs, sound lab, multi-media lab and broadcasting studio.

Hence, UCSF teaching and learning environment is more than just traditional classrooms which are not only well equipped but modern. It has classrooms and labs designed for specific learning purposes, and the teaching staff are trained to leverage on the facilities provided.

Mock Training Facilities

The servicing industry is key economic activities of almost all modern economy and being hospitable is very much a human-touch or human-based skill, also known as hands-on, communicable or relationship skill. This is a skill which is irreplaceable despite advancement contributing to Industry Revolution 4 (IR4). Such skill development requires a mimic of the real environment that must be lively and interactive. To accomplish this, for the hospitality, tourism and event management study, UCSF has created not only various real environments like its mock housekeeping room, launderette, reception, service center, restaurant, kitchens (hot and pastry) and even a gallery. This is to ensure that when our student graduates, they are more confident, skillful and entrepreneurial.

Modern Library

UCSF’s library is designed to be a resource center, catering to both students, staff and researchers. The library provides an academic environment with ease of access to both physical and online resources, trained library personnel for information search and is equipped with laptops, high speed Wi-Fi, popular periodicals and various added services like printing and scanning. It is opened daily including weekends.

Language Lab

UCSF’s language labs are state-of-the-art audio-visual language labs. The lab not only offers students a refreshing and modern way of learning the English language, via audio and visual ways. It guides and helps in building the students’ confidence and fluency in comprehending the English language.

Mini Theatres

Being an active higher learning institution which is a buzzed with myriad of academic, research and community-based activities, UCSF has four 80 seaters (capacity) theaters for a variety of events like seminars, talks, presentation, lectures and other community service programmes within UCSF campus.  The mini theaters are also platforms of learning for our students, staff and researchers, where they are used constantly to build their confidence in public speaking and showcasing their creative productions.

Science Laboratories

The Science Laboratory Building in UCSF is a two-story building composed of two (2) laboratory spaces, each with a capacity for 40 students. The General Laboratory is situated at the ground floor, whilst the Biological Laboratory is at the first floor. The more specialized Biological Laboratory provides a high-quality learning space with controlled conditions to conduct scientific research, allow for students to develop laboratory skills, and perform experiments that enhance the comprehension and applicability of the theories discussed in the classroom. UCSF takes pride in conducting modern, comprehensive teaching and learning, including developing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills using the modern scientific tools and software.

Student Recreation Center

A modern air conditioned space is provided at the student recreation center for our students to hang out and for them to have that occasional group gathering in a relax, unpressured and comfortable manner. This modern space is equipped with modern coloured and cushioned-cover puffed chairs which are movable and easily rearranged to create the perfect layout discussion.

Sport/Work-Out Facilities (Gymnasium)

UCSF also offers a well-equipped gymnasium, equipped with workout instruments and facilities for all its staff and students. Located on the second floor of the UCSF new recreation building, the gymnasium provides running machines, bikes, exercise weights and more with a beautiful of sunset to calm one’s spirit and to build a better mind and body.

Dance & Jamming Studio

For those who prefer a more lively cardiovascular type of fitness workout, such as Zumba or even traditional dancing, UCSF has a modern dance studio equipped with a quality sound system, wooden ballet floor, mirrors and dance activities conducted by qualified instructors.

Jamming Area/Sound Studio

We know our students and staff at UCSF are multi-talented. Therefore, to allow them to expand and showcase their musical side and creative talent, the student space has a corner where students may get together to have that moment of fun or (musical) jamming.

In addition, the sound lab, which is part of UCSF’s arts and creative media set up, can be mobilized to support the recording, or broadcasting of the students’ performance and creative work.

Ijau

IJAU, pronounced “hijau” as the name in Bahasa Malaysia, implies is our green café. It functions both as a training center for UCSF’s hospitality students, as well as showcase of green kitchen and café practices. It is a living café where students are trained to prepare and serve real customers while at the same time, advocate to all its clients the important of living green and part of the sales’ proceed will be contributed towards UCSF’s green initiatives.

Nature Inspiration Art Gallery (Niag)

Nature Inspiration Art Gallery, branded under the short name NIAG, is UCSF’s real commercial gallery set up not only to show case the work of our art students, but also a training ground for our art students in the art of curating. The gallery features the best of work from both the trainers and students. It is also where the “SAHABAT UCSF” (or translated into English UCSF Friendship) scheme is born, where enterprising students and graduates may leverage on our entrepreneur platform to incubate their ideas, launch their product, receive guidance or leverage on our network of activities.
