Faculty of Management & Entrepreneurship (FME) presents a new-age faculty that places emphasis on nurturing professionals of tomorrow and provides education of the 21 st century. Our graduates are nurtured to be game changer of tomorrow, concentrating on contemporary skills relevant to employments not only locally but also globally.
Dynamic, Resourceful & Adaptive
It is noted that due to technological advancement, job scopes and job requirements are constantly changing and taking on new forms. Irrespective of the disciplines of studies, UCSF graduates will be dynamic, resourceful, adaptive and IT savvy by being able to take on different roles and different jobs depending on their passions and the new types of jobs which will be available, or depending on where they are.

21st Century at Its Core
In every of our programme, students will be taught cross disciplinary skills as we envision the new world to be a very integrated, exciting and technology driven world, where the ability to seek and apply new knowledge is looked upon as more important than being restrictive and confined to just a limited number of disciplines. The emphasis is not only on future employability but adaptability.
Students in FME will also learn a third language, alias foreign language as we believe the new world is a tighter and integrated world, where people, trades and businesses will span across many cultures, borders and many continents.

Students are also taught to appreciate the environment and to discover the potentials of our surrounding and foresee the emerging trends which will define the hidden values, of the commercialize-able aspects of products or services for an innovative society.

Dean’s Message
We live in a world that is changing rapidly. Major disruptions like the Covid-19 pandemic have changed the way that businesses function. Other disruptions such as AI and Climate Change are on the horizon. Businesses need to prepare for this.
In the Faculty of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME) our tagline is “We Mean Business”. This means that we are serious about developing our students (which include our Tourism and Hospitality students) to be able to work in the challenging, yet exciting, new business world.
Through our Green Concept and Philosophy we try to instill in our students an understanding of sustainability that is vital for today’s and tomorrow’s businesses. Customers are demanding more and more sustainable solutions and are holding companies accountable to ensure products and services are delivered in such a way that they do not damage the environment.
At FME, we therefore try to develop our students to be environmentally literate, technologically literate, and financially literate and have the soft skills to work in tomorrow’s business environments.
And finally, at FME we also try to ensure that the student’s learning journey is not only educational but also fun. We are fully committed to the students’ welfare on their journey with FME.

Najmi Abdullah @ Thijs Hovenkamp
Hailing from the Netherlands, Najmi Abdullah @ Thijs Hovenkamp is the Dean of FME. He lectures in a range of courses including Revenue Management, Leadership and Strategic Management. He brings a wide range of International experience with him. He has worked as a Managing Director of a resort in Portugal as well as an acting general Manager in Malaysia. He holds an MBA.

Norzaini Saupi
Norzaini Saupi is currently working at FME, UCSF for almost 8 years and appointed as a Deputy Dean. She pursued her Degree and Master at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and graduated with Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in marketing and was awarded the MBA Specialization in Marketing. Thereafter, she taught Marketing and Entrepreneurship courses in UCSF. Recently, she published two articles in the International Journal of Psychosocial Rehabilitation (Scopus-Indexed). She is currently pursuing PhD research in the area of Umrah celebrity endorsement at UTHM.

Dr Amy Faizah Nain
Dr Amy Faizah Nain is a lecturer in statistics and economics at Faculty of Management and Entrepreneurship, University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF). Currently, she was posted as Head of Programme for Bachelor of Business Administration. Amy-Faizah has completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Human Resource Economics at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, University of Malaysia Sabah in November 2019. Her areas of interest in research include female labour force participation, economic growth, fertility, econometric and statistics. She is also involved in developing modules on entrepreneurship especially for the short courses.

Barbarawati Richard
Barbarawati Richard completed her degree in accounting from University of Malaya in 2000. Continued her master in Business Administration (Accounting) at University Malaysia Sabah in 2011. She is expert in accounting especially cost accounting, management accounting, taxation and a trainer for UBS (an Accounting Software). Has been teaching since 2000 for diploma and degree programmes in various institutions i.e UiTM franchise programme, UNITAR franchise programme, OUM programme and In-House programme. Joined UCSF in November 2014 as lecturer. Appointed as the Deputy Dean cum Head of Department (Accounting) from 2016 until August 2018 and Faculty Dean from September 2018 until October 2022. Currently the Head of Programme for Diploma in Accounting since early 2023.

Hazlina Binti Baba
Hazlina Binti Babai is a lecturer with experience in Tourism Management, Tourism Planning and Hospitality. She graduated her study in Master of Science (Tourism Planning) and Bachelor of Business (Tourism Management) and started her journey as an educator in 2019 in a private local university college. During her master’s research she focused on ‘Creative Tourism Experience’ in Kiulu Farmstay Tamparuli which helped the research area to enhance their new tourism products innovation specifically in Creative Tourism. She currently works at University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) where she is a lecturer as well as the Head of Programme for the Diploma in Tourism Management (DTM).

Rohana Binti Arpa
Rohana Binti Arpa is a lecturer at the Faculty of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME), University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) Kota Kinabalu. She completed her Bachelor Degree in Islamic Finance in 2013 at University Malaysia Sabah, Labuan International Campus and Master in Economics in 2016 at University Malaysia Sabah, Kota Kinabalu. After graduating, she became a part time tutor in Open University Malaysia (OUM) in her homeland (Sandakan) and started her full time lecturer at UCSF in 2019. Her main area of expertise is finance and currently teaching Islamic Finance Management, Financial Management, Islamic Finance and Banking System, and Introduction to Finance, for Diploma and Degree students at UCSF.

Siti Rahma Binti Malusirang
Right after graduating her first degree at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in 2001, majoring in Banking and Finance, Siti Rahma Binti Malusirang worked as a Research Assistant at Borneo Marine Research Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) for 10 years. During her attachment with BMRI UMS, she was actively doing research on the seaweed development project in Balambangan and Banggi Island, Kudat, funded by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development.
In 2009, she pursued her Master Degree, by full research, entitled “To study roles of government agencies and human resource management practices of entrepreneurs in seaweed industry in Sabah”. Besides that, she joined another research funded by PEMANDU, the EPP3 New Key Economic Areas, Agricultural Seaweed Mini Estate, Business and Economic Cluster until March 2014.
While doing her Master, she was also a part time tutor at School of Business and Economics (currently known as Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy), UMS for 8 years, tutoring various management courses such as Corporate Communication, Principles of Management, Business Ethics, Human Resource Management and Microeconomics. She also presented her papers at both local and international seminars and conferences and published a paper in Journal of the Asian Academic of Applied Business as a co-authors.
She joined the Faculty of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME), UCSF in September 2016 as a part time lecturer for 2 years and decided to join UCSF as a full time lecturer in 2018. Her areas of interest are Islamic Human Resource Management, Human Resource Training and Development and Management. Besides teaching she is also invovled with an NGO and participated a training of trainers with Malaysian Against Pornography (MAP) Sabah in March 2020.

Murni Lakasi
Given an opportunity to grow up, Murni Lakasi has the opportunity to become a trainer at University College Sabah Foundation. She is also responsible for pastry kitchen management at Ijau Cafe and Restaurant.
She started her career working in a fast food restaurant for almost a year. Before joining UCSF, she worked with the hospitality industry, specializing in pastry making, for 6 years. To add, she completed her Diploma in Hospitality and Catering Management in 2012 at Politeknik Kota Kinabalu. She is also able to communicate using sign language.

Paveethra Pulpanathan
Paveethra is a dedicated lecturer in Hospitality Services, specializing in Food & Beverage Management. She began her academic journey with a Foundation in Management at UNITAR International College (Penang) and holds a Bachelor of Business with Honours in Hotel Management from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Human Capital Management at UMS. After her degree, she gained valuable industry experience in the food and beverage sector, progressing from a crew member to a team leader with a well-established company. Her transition into academia began at NBUC College, where she was appointed as a Full-Time Lecturer teaching core Hotel Management subjects. She was later promoted to Head of Programme for Hotel Management, where she successfully guided the programme through MQA audits and contributed to academic quality assurance. In 2025, she joined the University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) as a Lecturer in Food & Beverage Management, where she also manages the Beverage Department at the university’s Ijau Restaurant & Café.

The Dean’s List is a scholarly award for students who demonstrate academic excellence by achieving a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.75 and above in a semester. The Faculty of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME) Dean’s List award ceremony is an annual event that manifests the faculty’s appreciation and recognition of the students achieving excellent academic performance. This year, the meaningful event was held on 25th October 2023 at Ijau Restaurant and Café, UCSF, involving a total number of 23 FME student award recipients. In his speech, Mr. Najmi Abdullah, The Dean of the Faculty of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME), commented that only around 2.5% of students in FME make the Dean’s List noting that getting a Dean’s List award is truly an outstanding scholarly achievement. He also said that only by producing graduates who are well rounded (which includes being green-savvy, tech-savvy as well as financially-savvy), can UCSF succeed in their mission to produce a workforce that can raise the standards in Sabah and Malaysia. The certificates were handed to the students by the Dean and Deputy Dean (Ms. Norzaini Binti Saupi) in the presence of Faculty of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME) members, parents and other invited guests. The successful event concluded with a photo session and light refreshments.
